Compositions

The music of Fernando Fracassi represent  an absolute novelty concerning the musical view relating to the Flutes and Piccolos world.

Fracassi' s compositions born from literary, artistic, psychological, philosophical, religious, historical, sociological and generally cultural and emotional demands.

His distinctive personal style combines with great success the wonderful sonorities of ancient, traditional and ethnical flutes and piccolos with the new technological sounds of live electronics (pre-recorded tracks) or traditional acoustical music instruments performed with extended techniques.

For the thematic choice and elaboration of the composition, he prepares every new work in exhaustive form making several research in various directions: aesthetic, historical, artistic, semiotical, etc. and adopting harmonic and melodic principles in the musical writing referables to the geographic context of the piece and to the relative musical tradition (arabic, balcanic, oriental and western).

To follow a philologycal route to compose his works, he regurarly studies and analyses in depth as much as he can  the cultural production about the subjects which inspires his compositions, reading about essays, poems, literature or listening to music of the same style of his future piece such as watching movies, documentaries and following new global researches about the subject.

The composer will often add in his pieces pre-recorded or live voices and soliloquies. He also requires occasionally on the stage the visual support of paintings, photos or videos to reach at the totality of the various artistic languages in one modern and unique style (called: New Programmatic Music). For this reason, Fracassi usually performs during vernissage, art expositions, books exhibitions, etc.

Fracassi often explains in advance of each sequential composition its stylistic, semantic and emotional contents introducing it with some useful underlines.

In this way, he  transforms his recital in a more extensive interdisciplinary cultural event.

Starting from this embrional new form of recital, Fracassi created in 2008 a new genre of play called : "Conference-Recital".

In this kind of  show, he presents a critical work of researching about one or more subjects taken from literature, arts, philosophy, religion or other disciplines which he elaborates both from a musical and conversational point of view.

Fracassi writes his music expecially relating to the classical musical style, ethnical or ambient music. His language is prevalently tonal but not rigorously academic. The form usually constitutes the starting point for a free elaboration.

Every composition of Fernando Fracassi privileges the searching of a made acoustics, an emotional orchestration and a meticolous timbre investigation.

To perform his compositions it is  required for the players to have an excellent technical virtuosity, flexible sound, good capacity of improvisation, talent but expecially a rigorous and disciplined daily practise such as a constant psycho-physical training.

Part of his new production is currently used for psychoanalisis settings in the sector of Sperimental Psychology (Cognitive - Behavioural Psychology).

For this field, Fracassi created a new music style called  Imaginative Music because it operates through his inductive power to evocate images for therapeutical goals.
